FINALLY!
February 24, 2013 in Cockpit, General, Interior
Hi Gang!
I was finally able to get those dreaded upper side walls framed! After rethinking a few steps I realized what was confusing me… Now all I have to do is skin the panels and then paint and pinstriping! I added a brace on the upper panels to keep from twisting when I removed it from the assembly. This really helped out! Enjoy!
More to Follow! WHEW….

Hi S,
Thanks for the kind words! I’m not as far along as I would like to be but she’s getting there!

Greg,
Is there a set of prints or a model you are getting measurements from? I’ve been trying to find one and I’m probably looking in the wrong places. I’m hoping to find something I can disect and maybe create a frame for all the pretty to sit on or attach to.

Hi Scot,
We’re working with a set of 1:1 scale 3D plans that Steve Starkiller is putting together. He has poured over any and all images the Star Wars community has been able to find to create an exact copy of the ANH version of the MF. We all ran into each other over at The Replica Prop Forum. Starkiller was able to finally figure out the “Ship of Riddles” and combine both the exterior and interior into a working design – he did an amazing job!

What exactly are you trying to create? : )

Hi,
I haven’t seen much yet on the actual structure of the ship, and I was hoping to try to give that a shot, at least from the ground up to the deck level. In looking at Stinson’s cutaway, it looks like the plan is only to build the deck inside the curved hallways. I was thinking of putting support for the entire floor at deck level, so that even the forward cargo areas (currently outside the plans, but which would be useful as a staging area for the interior install) would have a flat surface to stand on,
This summer Seattle Opera is doing Wagner’s Ring cycle, and I have a LOT of time to fill between lighting and cues, and we have another show between now and then, I was hoping to help get a plan submitted to you guys so that all the work you guys are doing on the interior will have a sturdy place to live that much sooner.

Scot again
As part of that, I had been looking at framing the turrets, or at least the dorsal one, so it could spin, but now that I’ve seen the cutaway and where the ladder goes up into the gun room (not at center of the circle) I’m slowly working my way off of that idea, since I don’t want to mess with the extensive work that has already gone into the plans because of the old plastic model I have.
